#1 Petoskey Restaurant, Again: City Park Grill Receives Recognition for Second Consecutive Year
June 2019 | PETOKSEY, MICHIGAN — City Park Grill of Petoskey was proud to learn of their Red Hot Best #1 Petoskey Restaurant recognition from Traverse Magazine readers for the second consecutive year.
In its 9th Year, the Red Hot Best awards, established by Prism Publications, give MyNorth and Traverse Magazine readers a opportunity to “nominate and vote for their Up North favorites in 101 different categories,” according to MyNorth.com. Thousands submitted nominations, and thousands again voted for their favorites.
“City Park Grill has a long history of providing an exceptional dining experience,” explains General Manager Joe Keedy. “We are thrilled with this recognition, especially coming from the entire northern Michigan community two years in a row.”
City Park Grill, in one of Petoskey’s oldest buildings, was originally constructed in 1875. McCarty Hall, as it was then known, was a males-only billiard parlor that offered cigars and “intoxicating beverages.” The storied history includes tales of prohibition and underground tunnels, of young Ernest Hemingway, and ghost sightings. Guests can enjoy historic tours on designated Sundays throughout the year. Visit cityparkgrill.com for a calendar of events.
Well known for their made-from-scratch food, City Park Grill is a local’s favorite and vacationer’s return destination. “Recognition like this gives us an opportunity to remind guests that nearly everything we serve is housemade — from salad dressings to sauces, from soups to desserts,” Keedy adds. “And, we cut our steaks, we smoke our meats, we use local farmers and purveyors whenever in season, and we even make our own ginger beer.”
