Depot Beach Cruiser at Jax Northside
Just because Labor Day weekend may trigger your thoughts that summer is almost over, it doesn’t mean that you have to stop drinking fruity cocktails! Jax Northside, located on the 6th green of the Charlevoix Municipal Golf Course, is crafting cocktails to savor the season.
The DEPOT BEACH CRUISER, made with Captain Morgan Rum, Malibu, cranberry juice and pineapple juice is the perfect combination of fruity and fresh. The rum-based cocktail is named after Lake Charlevoix’s Depot Beach, the closest beach to Jax, and this signature cocktail has been a long-standing favorite with Charlevoix locals.

Jax’s bar manager Roxie brought the DEPOT BEACH CRUISER to the restaurant to continue its legacy within the Charleviox community. It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to a close, but the red and orange ombre of fruit juices garnished with an orange and cherry inside a hurricane glass make anyone feel like they’re back on the beach.

The DEPOT BEACH CRUISER has more historical ties than just being a local favorite! The craft cocktail is named after one of Charlevoix’s most famous attractions. Depot Station saw its first train in 1892, and the station has remained an attraction to this day. The bright yellow building has stood the test of time, and Charlevoix would not be the bustling up north town it is without this structure. The city was one of the last northern Michigan cities to be on the railway, and it is obvious from restaurants like Jax Northside, that people feel Charlevoix is a special place!
Depot Beach, located next to the historic train station, is loved by locals and visitor alike. With soft sand and clear water this is the perfect beach for families to visit, and a location worthy of cocktail name!
